To get started with CakePHP, you need to download the latest STABLE version. Visit CakePHP.org, hit the Download button, follow few step-by-step instructions to download your application.Unzip the downloaded zip files.
Copy the downloaded files to your web server.
My path is: C:\wamp\www\home\caketest (I copied everything under 'caketest' folder).
Now point your browser to website url. In my case, it was:
http://caketest.local/ (I have a localhost configured. It should be something different in your case.)
I can SEE the welcome screen.
Yup! Cake is installed.
